"Geomatics is one of the vital elements in the development of the human environment since the beginning of recorded history. The planning and execution of any form of construction require geomatics. It is also used in transport, communications, mapping, and the definition of legal boundaries for land ownership. The conventional methods of geomatics are becoming obsolete with the advances of modern geomatics equipment. From the electronic total stations to 3D scanning, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and LADAR technologies are fast evolving for geomatics in recent years. Geomatics and mapping professionals, students and academicians need to stay abreast of these dynamics. This is only possible by expanding capabilities related to emerging technologies and innovations, keeping knowledge and technology up-to-date, enhancing skills holistically in the converging geospatial environment. Geomatics professionals require skills in wide range of converging technologies such as total stations, GIS, GPS, satellite imagery, aerial laidar etc.
Understanding this, Department of Civil Engineering, IIEST Shibpur is organizing this Workshop during February 02-03, 2018. The interactive workshop aims to expose students, academician and professionals to the latest technologies of geomatics."
