About

After serving a brief stint with Coal India Limited, I joined academics and have been serving at various academic positions over the last 25 years. My areas of expertise include rock engineering, unconventional gas reservoir development like coalbed methane and shale gas; and CO2 storage in deep geological formations. I have executed several sponsored research projects from various government and private agencies. Presently, I am engaged in slope design of pits and overburden dumps at a number of coal mines in the country.

On the international front, I served as a coalbed methane consultant for VICO Indonesia and Mitchell Energy of Australia. I was a post doctoral fellow at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale in 2005-06 and Blaustein Fellow at Stanford University in 2010. I also executed a collaborative research project with University of Leeds on shale gas reservoir characterisation in 2014-15.
