Dr. Lingampally Sai Vinay is currently working as an Assistant Professor, Department of Mining Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science & Technology (IIEST), Shibpur. Previously worked as a Researcher at Tata Steel and served as a Mining Expert at O/o Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal, Government of India. Dr. Lingampally Sai Vinay completed his Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mining Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, India, in 2023. He holds a Second Class Manager's Certificate of Competency (Un-Restricted Coal), Gas Testing certificate, and First Aid certificate. Dr. Lingampally Sai Vinay's research interests include underground coal mining, Energy Transition, Green Mining, Mine Closure, Mine Safety, and the Application of numerical simulation, machine learning, and various advanced tools in Mining.
His PhD Thesis was nominated from India by the Indian National Group of ISRM for the ISRM Rocha Medal 2025. He has received a Letter of Appreciation from the Additional Secretary & Nominated Authority, Ministry of Coal, Government of India. He was awarded the Speaker’s Award at the 17th MiningForum, June 06-07, 2024, in Berlin, Germany. He was also awarded the MEAI-SRG Information Technology Award 2023-2024 and the Student Membership Award 2022-2023 by MEAI. His international visits include Australia, Germany, and the Netherlands.
He serves as a reviewer for nine international journals, including those published by Elsevier, Springer, and Frontiers, as well as other reputable publishers. He is a member of various mining societies like IACC, CPPA, ISRM, IEI, MGMI, MEAI, SAIMM, ISRMTT, ARMA, SME, IEF, and ICF. He is also the Coordinator of ISRM India’s Youth Researchers’ Forum 2025. He is the first graduate from the JNTUH University College of Engineering, Manthani, to earn a doctorate.
