Dr. Santanu Maity was associated with different research laboratory such as IC Design and Fabrication Centre (Jadavpur University), Centre of Excellence for Green Energy and Sensor Systems (Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology), Centre of Excellence in Nanoelectronics (Indian Institute of Technology Bombay), National Institute of Technology, AP, Tezpur Central University. His research interests include solar cell, RF-MEMS, Antenna, High-speed semiconductor devices, Fin-FET, semiconductor gas sensor.

Recently Dr. Maity is working on Optical semiconductor devices such as cSi solar cell, Hetero junction solar cell, Photodetector , and also on Solar modules,  EDS.
