Development of novel therapeutics to translate laboratory results for a malignant brain tumor and dementia patients using a holistic approach. Our Neurobiotechnology laboratory led by Dr. Mukhopadhyay at IIEST, Shibpur has state of art infrastructural set up to carry out research to develop novel peptide-based therapeutics against cancer metastasis and neurodegenerative diseases. The Clinical microbiology laboratory is engaged in deciphering causes for Multidrug resistance in bacteria. We work together with neighboring Academic institutions of repute as well as with well-known clinicians at Medical colleges and Hospitals to solve the problem in a multidisciplinary manner. MTech students at this lab have developed electromagnetic devices to treat the above glioblastoma by creating gentle and focused hyperthermia and to treat Alzheimers’ diseases by reestablishing Ca homeostasis.
