Dr. Sujata Biswas has graduated in Civil Engineering from Jadavpur University and completed M.E.in Water Resources Engineering from Bengal Engineering College (D.U.) and Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur. She joined this Institute in 2003 after working as research associate in IIT Kharagpur. Her primary research interests include Hydrological modelling, Watershed management using satellite remote sensing and GIS, Extreme events, Stochastic Hydrology, Machine learning etc. She has published several papers in peer-reviewed International Journals, Book Chapters and International Conference proceedings. She has guided five PhD students and several M. Tech and B.Tech. Students. Currently, four Ph.D. students are working under her supervision. She is a reviewer of reputed national/international journals including Water Resources Management, Natural Hazards, Theoretical and Applied Climatology, Environmental Monitoring and Assessment, Scientific Reports etc. She is a member of the Indian Society of Remote Sensing, Institution of Engineers and also technical committee member of Bureau of Indian Standards.
