Dr. Das is an Assistant Professor in Mechanical Engineering at IIEST Shibpur. Before joining the Mechanical Engg Dept, Dr. Das served as temporary faculty in this institute's Aerospace Engg & Applied Mechanics Dept. Dr. Das obtained his B-Tech degree in 2005 from Haldia Institute of Technology, Haldia, and his Master of Engineering degree in 2007 from Bengal Engineering and Science University, Shibpur, Howrah (Presently, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur) in Machine Design Specialization in Mechanical Engineering Department. He earned his Ph.D. from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, in March 2019 in the Mechanical Engg Dept, in Applied Mechanics field. He has received the university silver medal based on B-Tech results from the West Bengal University of Technology. He has worked as a Co-Investigator of the DST India-Japan Cooperative Science Programme (DST/INT/JSPS/P-254/2017) and MHRD RUSA 2.0 Research Grant: No R-11/611/19. He has worked as a research fellow at the School of Env. and Society-Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan. He is a life member of Indian Society for Non-destructive Testing (ISNT), Corporate Member of the Institution of Engineers (India), a life member of the Hong Kong Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the International Association of Advanced Materials. Dr. Das has worked for over six years in industries such as design engineering, including General Electric Company, Bangalore. Dr. Das has Guided 1 PhD and 7 M.E students. Presently, he is guiding 4 PhD and 1 M.E students.
His basic research interests are mechanics of composites, functionally graded materials, structural health monitoring, computational mechanics, Biomaterials, advanced material, impact mechanics, fluid-structure interaction, and Additive manufacturing.
