Sukumar Kundu

About


Dr. Sukumar Kundu graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from B. E. College (Deemed University), received a Master of Engineering (Physical Metallurgy) degree from B. E. College (Deemed University) and obtained Ph. D. (Engineering) from BESU, Shibpur, India. He was awarded “An Indo-US Research Fellowship” for carrying a Post-Doctoral at Colorado School of Mines, USA, from October 2012 to October 2013. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur. Before joining IIEST Shibpur, he worked as a Scientist in the Material Science and Technology division of the National Metallurgical Laboratory, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand. His research interest includes structure-property correlations in ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, joining of similar/dissimilar materials, degradation of materials and biomaterials. He has published over ninety research articles in national and international journals and conference proceedings. He was awarded the Young Metallurgist Award in 2009 from the Ministry of Steel, Govt. of India.
