"The Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur organized with reverence and great fervour, the Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) on 26th November 2024, under the campaign tagline of “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan”, to commemorate the 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution of India. The day-long celebration was attended by several dignitaries, including the Hon’ble Director, Registrar, Deans and Associate Deans, Heads of various academic departments/centres/schools, faculty members, institute officers, staff members, eminent guests and the student fraternity. The occasion was inaugurated by Mass reading of the Preamble, as per the guidelines issued by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India and garlanding of the photo of the father of the Indian Constitution, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. The institute also organized invited lectures in the afternoon, delivered by prominent experts including Mr. Thakur Prasad Murmu, Asst. Professor in Sidho Kanho Birsha University, Purulia and Ld. Senior Advocate, Smt. Chandreyi Alam, The High Court at Calcutta. The highlights of the celebration included inaugurating of a specially curated Constitution Gallery in the 1st Lobby of the Centenary Building of the institute, by the Hon’ble Justice Kaushik Chanda, The High Court at Calcutta. A quiz competition was also organized on the Indian constitution for the entire IIEST community. The celebration reverberated with the notion to uphold the spirit and dignity of the nation, and to reiterate the core values enshrined in the Constitution of India."
