Quality Improvement Programme

With a vision to ameliorate and enhance the quality of technical education in the country, the Government of India, in 1970, envisioned and put the concept of the Quality Improvement Program (QIP) into form at the technical institutions of eminence and excellence. The primary target of the programme is to upgrade the expertise and capabilities of teachers of the AICTE approved degree-level engineering institutions. Presently (2020-2021) there are nine Major QIP centres and several (74) other Minor centres spread across the country.

The IIEST, Shibpur has been nominated as a Minor QIP Centre by the AICTE.  The QIP Cell at IIEST, Shibpur caters the need of quality improvement, as envisaged in the Quality Improvement Program. The QIP Cell works regularly with the objective of providing an avenue for the teachers teaching in any of the AICTE approved degree-level engineering institution in the country to pursue M. Tech. or Ph. D. and upgrade their qualifications.

The entire administrative protocol associated with the QIP Cell of the institute gets routed through the Office of the Dean (Academic), IIEST, Shibpur.
