    The Department of Civil Engineering, IIEST Shibpur organized an Invited Talk and Interactive session on “Physics-based Simulation in Research and Education” on the 20th of July, 2022. The session was inaugurated by Prof. Ambarish Ghosh, HOD, Civil Engineering, and involved active participation from faculty and research scholars across the Department of Civil Engg., Mechanical Engg. and Aerospace Engg & Applied Mechanics. Dr Dipankar Choudhury, Ansys Fellow and Deputy CTO, Ansys Inc. delivered the talk, highlighting the diverse applications offered by Ansys for simulating real-life engineering problems. This was followed by an interactive question and answer session, where the importance of academia-industry collaboration was brought up for effective implementation of design solutions. The vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Chaitali Ray, thanking the Ansys Inc team for an engrossing and enlightening session, and for the prestigious research grant bestowed upon the Department involving Prof. Chatali Ray, Prof. Sujit Kumar Dalui and Prof. Saptarshi Kundu .
