The first roll call of the Calcutta Civil Engineering College, - the earliest predecessor of IIEST, Shibpur, was made on November 24, 1856. As such November 24, the foundation day of the Institute, calls for celebration in an apt fashion. Following programmes are drawn up for the day:

1. Noted academician Prof Amitabha Ghosh, a distinguished alumnus of the Institute and a former Director of IIT Kharagpur, will deliver the Foundation Day Lecture 2019.
2. This year the long service award will be given to employees and officers who superannuated from IIEST Shibpur since its conversion on March 04, 2014.
3. With patronage received from SIMOCO Telecommunications (South Asia) Ltd., the Institute's website has been designed and developed de-novo. The new website will be launched on the occasion.
4. For the last few years, the Institute has been maintaining a rudimentary archive. The archive needs expansion and augmentation. It has been proposed that the former board-room and the Chamber of the Principal of erstwhile BE College, located in the main building be, - in a phased manner, suitably refurbished to accommodate the upgraded archive so as to become to an authentic repository of documents and artifacts relating to this Institute's history and development. The programme for archive up-gradation will be launched as a part of the foundation day celebration.
5. It is proposed to produce a short documentary of the Institute. While depicting the chequered history of the Institute it will focus on 'how the institute grew'. A few stakeholders, mainly coming from the teachers, have joined hands to produce the documentary. The documentary will be released on the occasion.
6. The campus will be appropriately illuminated on the occasion.
