Dr. Dipaloke Majumder is an Assistant Professor in the Geotechnical Division of the Civil Engineering Department at IIEST in Shibpur, India, a role he's held since September 2023. Before joining IIEST, he worked as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University Transportation Center for Underground Transportation Infrastructure (UTC-UTI) at the Colorado School of Mines in Golden, Colorado, USA, from September 2021 to August 2023. He earned his Ph.D. in April 2021 from IIT Roorkee, with a focus on the “Response of Tunnels in Squeezing Ground Conditions”.
In 2014, he completed his Master's in Geotechnical Engineering at IIEST, Shibpur, and prior to that; he obtained his Bachelor's degree in 2012 from WBUT. During his doctoral and postdoctoral work, Dr. Dipaloke was involved in several collaborative research projects, including "Analysis and Design of Tunnels: A Probabilistic Perspective," "An Investigation of Rock Burst Characteristics in Sandstone at Laboratory Scale," and "Thermo-Mechanical Characterization of Synthetic Sandstone." His research interests span various aspects of geotechnical engineering, covering geomechanics, rock mechanics, constitutive modeling, underground excavation, tunneling, finite element and finite difference modeling, and the application of machine learning techniques.
In his personal life, Dr. Dipaloke enjoys activities such as cooking, yoga, meditation, walking, jogging, reading, and spending time with his family.
