Dr. Sudip Kumar Roy, Professor, and Former Head Civil Engineering Department, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur got Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering degree from Calcutta University, India in 1987. He did his M. Tech from IIT Kanpur and Ph.D. from IIT Kharagpur, India. He has undergone postdoctoral study at Purdue University, USA. In addition to his regular undergraduate and postgraduate teaching assignments, basically in the subjects related to transportation planning and engineering, he has been involved in different research and consultancy projects sponsored by various governmental and private agencies. He is currently the Dean (Planning and Development) of same Institute.
He has undertaken 8 Sponsored Research Projects as Principal Investigator including Supra Institutional Nationally Coordinated Project on “Development of Indian Highway Capacity Manual”. He is involved in more than 50 Consultancy Projects as Principal Consultant. He is one of the coordinators, State Technical Agency of PMGSY in West Bengal. He supervised 5 doctoral theses and is currently supervising 6 scholars. He has supervised more than 30 postgraduate theses. He has published 40 technical papers. He is the member of different professional bodies.
