About


Dr. Pritam Paral received the B.Tech. in Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering from West Bengal University of Technology, Kolkata, India, in 2012, and the M.E. in Electrical Engineering (Specialization - Control Systems) from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, in 2014. He worked as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at Techno India University, West Bengal, India, from 2014 to 2016. Between 2016 and 2021, he pursued his doctoral research work in the Electrical Engineering Department of Jadavpur University under the “Visvesvaraya PhD Scheme for Electronics and IT” of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), Government of India. Dr. Paral completed his Ph.D. (Engineering) Degree in Instrumentation and Measurement (I&M) in 2022. From March 2022 to early January 2023, he worked as a Research Associate under the “SERB-National Science Chair” Scheme, Government of India, at the Center for Soft Computing Research, Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata, India. Since late January 2023, he has been a faculty member in the Department of Electrical Engineering (EE), Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, Howrah, India. Currently, he is serving as an Assistant Professor (Grade - II) in the EE Department, IIEST, Shibpur, Howrah. 

Dr. Paral has published a number of peer-reviewed papers in renowned international journals and conferences, as well as authored several book chapters in books from reputable international publishers. His current research interests include explainable AI for cyber-physical systems, neuromorphic computing, granular computing, assistive technology, human-robot collaboration with physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), application of generative AI in IoT, etc. Dr. Paral serves as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement and is also a reviewer of several other IEEE and Elsevier journals. He is a member of the IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society (IMS).
