An adjunct faculty member of the IIEST in Shibpur, Dr. Rajkumar Ghosh teaches geology. He worked for a year in the Land Use and Survey Division of the Remote Sensing Application Center in Uttar Pradesh as a project scientist. He worked for six years as a trainee geologist before this. He spent almost three years at IIT Bombay as a teaching assistant. Before beginning his teaching career, he worked as a temporary JRF at the geodynamics lab of the Earth Sciences Department for a year. He qualified for the GATE in Geology in 2011 and in 2014. In the National Eligibility Test (NET) in 2013, he was able to obtain the "Lectureship" position (Rank UGC-38). He received a travel grant (“International Travel Support” scheme) from IIT Bombay for presenting his research work at conference (DRT, 2013) in Belgium in 2013. He is interested in studying microstructures, analogue modeling, faults, and shear zones. He has worked on fault and shear zone mapping, geochemical mapping, microstructural studies, and rooftop rainwater harvesting. He has presented his research findings at both national and international conferences.
