Raju Prasad Mahto

About


Dr Raju Prasad Mahto has joined the Institute in November 2020. He has completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree in December 2019 from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (IIT Kharagpur), India. Before joining the institute, he worked as a project staff in Friction Stir Welding Lab, IIT Kharagpur. His broad area of research is in the field of Solid-State Welding/Processing and Additive Manufacturing.  

Dr Mahto has one patent (Filled), published fifteen SCI Papers in peer-reviewed journals, five conference papers, and four book chapters. Based on the research output,  Dr Mahto has been received four-time full financial assistance from IIT Kharagpur to present research work in various conferences held in Texas (USA), Hangzhou (China),  Chennai (India), and Bhubaneswar (India).

Research Statement


My research work is aligned toward understanding Friction Stir Welding, Friction Stir Processing, and Additive Manufacturing through experimental study and numerical modeling and simulations through an in-depth study of microstructure, crystallographic orientations, material deformations, and strain gradient. Proper metallurgical and mechanical understanding of the weld, processed zone, and build at various welding/processing conditions can help researchers and industries to achieve the best weld/build by monitoring and control of the process. Following are my major research areas:
