Siddharth Tamang

About


Dr. Siddharth Tamang completed his schooling from St. Augustine’s School- Kalimpong in the year 2008 and joined B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering from Haldia Institute of Technology- Haldia, West Bengal. He completed his M. Tech in Mechanical Engineering program with specialization in Manufacturing Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (ISM) Dhanbad, India.

In 2014 he joined Indian Institute of Technology Delhi as a PhD student in Department of Mechanical Engineering. His doctoral thesis consists of study in joining of dissimilar materials through microwave hybrid heating. He has worked in different material combinations namely AA6061 to AZ31B, oxygen free copper to stainless steel (SS304) and cBN to WC-Co. Other than experimental study he has worked in FEM simulation of microwave heating and microwave joining process using COMSOL Multiphysics software. Other research areas where he has published journals are microwave sintering, TIG welding, Indirect Electric Arc MIG welding and Submerged Arc Welding.

He has published research papers in 7 peer reviewed journals, 4 International conferences and 1 National conference. He has received the Best Paper Award in the International Symposium on Joining of Materials (SOJOM) 2018 on the theme ‘Emerging Joining Technologies’. He is a life member of Indian Welding Society (IWS) and a full member of The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society (TMS).
