The IIEST, Shibpur campus, located beside the AJC Bose Botanic Garden and alongside the river Hooghly, also shares aquatic-terrestrial characteristics and houses a living collection of diverse species of invaluable plants forming a rich eco-system in combination with the faunal biodiversity. In one of the first attempts, a record of the trees forming the part of this rich collection was prepared by the Institute. Over 2600 major trees were counted and identified.
