The Scheme of Accelerate Vigyan by SERB

 Accelerate Vigyan' (AV), an innovative scheme by Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB), strives to promote advanced scientific research and train scientific manpower that will finally lead to research careers and knowledge-based economy. This scheme primarily focuses on potential young researchers, mainly from Tier II & Tier III universities/Institutions, with an aim to give them opportunities to spend quality time in premier institutions, labs / organizations and enable them through best research practices and environment. Mission' ABHYAAS,' a part of AV, is an attempt to boost Research & Development in the country by grooming potential PG / PhD level students by developing dedicated research skills in selected areas / disciplines / fields through High-end workshops ('KARYASHALA') of one or two weeks duration and Research Internships ('VRITIKA') of one or two months durations for PG level students. These opportunities are especially important for researchers with limited opportunities to access such learning capacities / facilities / infrastructure. Mission 'SAMOOHAN,' another component of AV, aims to consolidate all Government supported major training programmes under one common platform through its 'SAYONJIKA' programme. An  Inter-Ministerial Overseeing Committee (IMOC) is working in a mission mode with representative members from all the scientific ministries/departments as well as a few other stakeholders like MHRD, UGC, DRDO, ISRO, etc., to support SERB in implementing AV. AV has had great success, with more than 600 events being funded by SERB and conducted so far under the 'ABHYAAS' component. The faculty members of IIEST, Shibpur are encouraged to avail these opportunities by applying for organizing High-end workshops and Research Internships through funding from 'ABHYAAS' component of the AV scheme.
