Arindam Biswas graduated from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India, and received his master's and doctorate degree both from the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Information Technology, Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, India. His research interests include digital geometry, image processing, approximate shape matching and analysis, medical image analysis, natural language processing, and biometrics. He has published over 150 research papers in international journals, edited volumes, and refereed conference proceedings, and holds one US patent. He has served as a Board Member of the Technical Committee 18 (tc18) for Discrete Geometry and Mathematical Morphology of International Association of Patern Recognition (IAPR) from 2016 to 2021. He has served as the Dean, International Relations and Alumni Affairs of Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur from 2019 to 2022. He is currently an Associate Editor of the IET, Image Processing journal. He is a member of the Expert Committee on Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, Robotics and other ICTs of the Department of Science and Technology and Biotechnology, Government of West Bengal (01.06.2023). He is a member of the Committee for Academic Reforms, MAKAUT, West Bengal. He is currently the Dean Academic, IIEST Shibpur.
